A mum has formed a fundraising running team for the "brief but brutal" Staffordshire Mow Cop Killer Mile.

Louise Harper, 31, of May Terrace, Barnsley, takes part with 'Team Barnsley' in the challenge on May 9. The team of six is now in training at Lifestyle Fitness in Barnsley for the run, a total climb of over 550ft with a killer 1-in-4 gradient section.

The team is raising money for disabled children's charity Caudwell Children. It provides equipment, treatment and therapies and a Destination Dreams programme of supervised holidays for children fighting life-threatening conditions.

Louise is mum and full-time carer to six-year-old Emily. Although yet undiagnosed, Emily has suspected Goldenhar syndrome, a rare congenital condition affecting facial development.

"Emily is a child ambassador for Caudwell Children and I am a South Yorkshire ambassador," said Louise. "The charity really changes lives for disabled children."

Louise raised £100 in last year's race and this year the  team includes her Lifestyle Fitness friends Chris Turner and Nicola Styles.
