A pregnant woman who lost a baby at 15-days-old is appalled that a Facebook page full of 'dead baby jokes' has not been removed.
Kirsty Whitelely, 20, was suffering pre-eclampsyia when she gave birth to Jersey Mai Gypsy Leigh last year nine weeks early.
The baby had an operation but died when she was 15-days-old. Reading the 'dead baby jokes' Facebook page, which has been 'liked' by more than 52,500 people, brought back the traumatic memories.
Kirsty, of Pontefract Road, Lundwood, said: "I was disgusted at the pictures, the jokes and stuff they were saying. If somebody made this page, it's disgusting."Seeing the photos did bring back the memory of my daughter.
"It is difficult and it's even harder now because I've found out I am expecting again."
She said alternative groups had been set up in a bid to try to get the page banned. "They don't realise how much it's hurting people."
A Facebook spokesman said while the page had been reported and may be deemed offensive that did not mean it necessarily violated Facebook policies.
Breaches included the use of pornographic content, bullying, hate speech, and actionable threats of violence, she said.
"The goal of these policies is to strike a very delicate balance between giving people the freedom to express themselves and maintaining a safe and trusted environment.
"In general, groups devoted to jokes, even disgusting and distasteful ones, do not violate our policies. Where these groups make real threats or statements of hate, however, we will remove them."
