A MUM-OF-THREE who lost her mother to ovarian cancer is having her head shaved for charity.
Steph Hickey, 28, of Allott Street, Hoyland Common, will have her long blonde locks shaved off on July 15 at 9.30am at Elizabeth Eden LDS hair salon, Hoyland Road, Hoyland Common.
The sponsored head shave - on the third anniversary of Steph's mum's death - is for the charity CLIC Sargent which supports children and their families coping with cancer.
Steph's mum Christine was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer at the time when Steph had a young son and had also just had twins.
Christine died when Steph was only 25, and the fact that her children were left without their grandma so young inspired her to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
She said: "I lost my mum three years ago to cancer, so it's something close to my heart. My mum loved children, so this was another reason I chose this charity."
Sarah's cut hair will also be donated to The Little Princess Trust who make wigs for children with cancer.
She added: "I don't mind losing my hair for such a good cause - it will grow back. When you lose someone to cancer all you are left with are memories, photos and personal items to cherish."
On the day of the head shave, there will also be men's chest or leg waxing for donations. Steph is having a 'last night of freedom' on the evening of July 12 and has invited anyone who sees her to give a cheer or donation.
