HOYLAND'S new Tesco 'eco-store' is on target for an October opening.
The timber framed 24,000 sq ft store on Market Street is now up and cost around £10 million to build. It includes features like an acoustic screen to shield nearby residents from noise.
Developer Litton Properties started work on the store last November.
Litton managing director Mark Twelves said: "We were due to finish construction on July 11 but it looks like we will actually finish on July 4."
Tesco will then start recruiting in July and August for full and part time workers. The supermarket giant anticipates the eco-store will create up to 200 jobs.
Tesco regional corporate affairs manager (north) Mark Thomas said: "A proportion of people will be employed on a regeneration partnership basis with Jobcentre Plus. This involves people who have been out of work at least six months."
