Joseph's Amazing Camels will make a welcome return at the show, which opened at 8am.
Cob classes are a new feature for this year in addition to the usual cattle, dogs, sheep, goats, alpacas, pigs and poultry.
There will be performances from Thurlstone Brass Band, Barnsley Concert Band and a pop choir.
Other attractions include classic cars, a falconry display, mountain bike skills and a farrier competition.
