A DISABLED pensioner claims she has struggled to wash herself for more than six months due to shoddy workmanship on a wetroom in her home.

Evelyn Dale, 67, who has mobility problems, was given a £4,000 grant to pay for the bathroom at her flat in St Edwin's Croft, Athersley South, to be adapted for her needs.

The grant was issued by Barnsley Council and her landlords Yorkshire Housing were instructed to carry out the work.

Work started in January - but Evelyn is still waiting for it to be completed.

Contractors were employed by Yorkshire Housing to carry out the work over a five week period. During that time Evelyn agreed to use a communal shower in the block of flats where she lives.

However, when the job was complete council inspectors refused to sign it off due to shoddy workmanship.
