Grimethorpe Colliery Band has received a funding boost to pay for music lessons it gives to schoolchildren.
The world-famous brass band has received £2,000 from Yorkshire-based Internet provider Plusnet, to fund its outreach programme for schools in the borough.
Grimethorpe Colliery Band's manager, Nigel Dixon, said members are very grateful for the money.
He said: "Our funding cuts are having a very serious impact over what activities the band can do.
"f it wasn’t for Plusnet we would not be able to provide such a key education tool for local children."
The money is enough to cover a year's free music lessons for children, although further funding is expected.
