Remy Vita has 'earned his spot' after waiting more than four months to play for Barnsley, says head coach Poya Asbaghi.

The 20-year-old left wing-back signed on a season-long loan from German giants Bayern Munich on the final day of the summer transfer window, with a clause for the Reds to buy should they decide to.

He did not play for the next four months but has started the last four league games and impressed, particularly in the 1-0 win over QPR on Saturday. Head coach Asbaghi told the Chronicle: “He got the chance and he has taken it. He has played well in previous games and on Saturday.

"He defended very well and he has shown he can come in and perform at this level. I am really happy with his performance.

“We haven't been able to do as much training as I would like with the full squad, but he's always had a good attitude. He showed a lot of good things in training that earned him the spot, and he is doing it in games now.”
