WOMBWELL Town and Worsbrough Bridge continued their impressive starts to the Division One season with victories this week.

Bridge won 3-1 at Swallownest in the league on Tuesday.

The hosts took the lead in the third minute but Luke Francis levelled midway through the first half.

Worsbrough then netted twice very late on through Francis again and Taylor Nicholson.

That left them with 13 points from six games – fifth in the early table.

Bridge had lost 3-0 at home to Ramsbottom United in the FA Vase on Sunday.

Worsbrough are due to host Shirebrook Town tonight then Retford on Wednesday.

Wombwell Town won 3-2 at home to Glasshoughton on Saturday.

Eddie Agnew scored in the third minute then, after the visitors levelled, debutant Gavin Allott made it 2-1.

Glasshoughton levelled again in the 78th minute then Allott scored a winning penalty in the 89th.

Town have five wins from their first six games following promotion from the County Senior League.

The weekend win put them top but midweek results elsewhere saw them drop down to third.

Town are now due to visit Brigg Town on Saturday.

Athersley Rec lost 3-2 at home to Yorkshire Amateur.

Danilo Mossolo put Rec ahead on the fourth minute then, after the visitors levelled, Josh Berry fired them 2-1 ahead in the 80th minute.

Yorkshire Amateur levelled with a penalty in the 86th minute then won it in the 90th.

Athersley then lost 3-0 at Shirebrook Town on Tuesday.

They have seven points from seven games.

Rec are due to host Parkgate on Saturday.

Penistone Church were beaten twice this week.

They lost 3-0 in the FA Vase on Saturday at Lower Breck.

They then went down 1-0 at Hallam on Tuesday in the Premier Division.

That was their first defeat of the league season after winning their opening three games.

Penistone are now due to host Bottesford Town on Saturday.
