BARNSLEY captain Cauley Woodrow is set to miss at least the next two games but his fellow striker Victor Adeboyejo could return this weekend.

Woodrow has been out since injuring his ankle at Preston on December 11 and later undergoing surgery.

Head coach Poya Asbaghi said: “He is out training on the grass, and he is working a little bit with the ball now. It is too early for this game (Reading at home on Saturday), and probably for the next, but I am hoping he will contribute this season.

“It might be difficult for him to reach the level of 100 per cent Cauley but I am confident he can contribute with his leadership and quality.

“He has been super-professional.”

Adeboyejo has not played since late January following a jaw injury.

Asbaghi said:“I felt a little bit sorry for Victor. We offered him the chance to take time off to rest but he wanted to stay. He could not train collectively because of the risk of him getting a hit on his jaw. But he has trained individually and he has been in every meeting taking notes even though he knew he wasn’t going to play.

“He has been helping his team-mates in any way he can. I am a little bit extra happy that he is coming back.

“I don’t rule him out for Reading but I have to discuss his fitness with my staff and how many minutes he can do after not much training.”

Defender Aapo Halme will miss two weeks with a new injury he picked up in training.
