Nicky Cadden has become Barnsley's fifth signing of the summer.

The 25-year-old Scottish left wing-back has signed a two-year deal with the Reds.

After spells in Scotland with Airdreonians, Livingston, Ayr and Greenock Morton, he joined League Two Forest Green Rovers in 2020.

He helped them to the fourth tier title last season, with six goals and 12 assists. He was a free agent after his contract expired.

The Reds did not have a natural left wing-back in their squad with Callum Styles, who has played there previously, expected to leave this summer.

Cadden told the club website: “I’m delighted. As soon as I spoke to the club, it was very positive. It seemed like they really wanted me. It looks like a great place to play football. I'm excited and can't wait for the season to start."
