Lee Bennett scored the only goal as Athersley Recreation beat Knaresborough in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday to go four points clear at the top of the Norther Counties East Division One.

Knaresborough had won their previous six matches and another victory would have seen them leapfrog Rec at the top but Bennett won it on 70 minutes after the visiting goalkeeper dropped Jack Briscoe's cross.

There is a single point between the three Barnsley teams at the top of the County Senior Premier League after Shaw Lane Aquaforce scored five for the second week in a row to go top.

Danny Frost was the hat-trick hero and Danny Barlow struck twice as Aquaforce won 5-3 at Everest on Saturday to overtake Houghton Main who did not play.

Penistone Church are one point behind Force in third place after they made it three wins from three with a 4-1 home victory over lowly Frecheville.

In the South Yorkshire Amateur League, North Gawber moved nine points clear at the top of Premier Division with a 5-1 win at local rivals Shaw Lane Aquaforce. Jake Bedford and Callum Mackie bagged braces while Rob Cartwright also struck.
