Shaw Lane Aquaforce won three times in five days – including with a defender in goal following an early red card on Saturday – to keep their hopes of a league and cup double alive.

Defender Matt Dempsey played in goal at Loughborough Dynamos on Saturday for most of the game after ‘keeper Tom Morgan was dismissed early on. Matt Thornhill put Aquaforce ahead, the hosts levelled then Adam Priestley won it in the 90th minute. Priestley also got the winner in the 1-0 victory over Belper on Monday which put the Shaw Laners seven points behind Evo-Stik Division One South leaders Stafford Rangers who have played three games more. The Ducks are also in the semi-finals of the Sheffield Senior Cup against Handsworth Parramore on April 14 after coming from behind to beat lower league Barnsley rivals North Gawber with two Gavin Allott goals.

Penistone Church have moved into the top six plaay-off places of the Northern Counties East League Division One after beating third-placed Bottesford Town 2-0 on Wednesday. At the other end of the table, Worsbrough Bridge are still second bottom after they scored a last-minute own goal in a 2-2 draw with Yorkshire Amateur on Thursday.

Euroglaze reached their second cup final of the season with a 5-0 thrashing of bottom club Davy in the South Yorkshire Amateur League Cup semi-final.
