A PRE-SCHOOL which was previously rated ‘inadequate’ during an Ofsted inspection has been rated ‘good’ following its most recent visit.
Kids World Cudworth, based at the Centre of Excellence on Roberts Street, cares for children aged two to five. The nursery is run by Kidsworld-Childcare Ltd, which has five nurseries across Barnsley, Rotherham and Wakefield.
In May, the nursery was rated ‘inadequate’ because safeguarding procedures were not implemented effectively and staff’s expectations of what children can understand were too high.
Following another inspection last month, the nursery has now been rated ‘good’.
The report said: “Staff have high expectations for every child in the nursery. They organise the environment indoors and outdoors well and give children access to a wide range of interesting resources.
“Staff keep a written record of accidents and the manager monitors this information to help ensure children’s well-being.
“They supervise children very well in all areas of the nursery, including outdoors, to help keep children safe.
“The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The manager attends network meetings to help her keep up to date about any changes to local safeguarding procedures and legislation. She disseminates this knowledge to her staff and frequently tests their understanding of child protection issues.”
The manager of Kids World Cudworth, Stacey Hoyland said: “It’s an amazing improvement. We’ve worked so hard to get the grade we deserve we are a good nursery and we had a couple hiccups at the time and a mishap with the last deputy which has now been rectified and the deputy unfortunately left.
“It’s a fantastic achievement especially before the Christmas break and we’re all on cloud nine.
“We knew what we had to aim for and I’m proud of my staff. We’re ecstatic.”
