Barnsley made it three wins in four under Valerien Ismael with a 2-0 victory over lowly Derby County at Pride Park on Saturday.
Conor Chaplin put the Reds in front after 30 minutes having been gifted the ball by a horrendous error by goalkeeper David Marshall.
The win was secured late on when substitute Victor Adeboyejo scored his first goal in the Championship and his first for Barnsley in any league in more than two years.
It was a first away win of the season for the Reds who are now 16th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone.
Ismael made two changes to the side that lost 3-0 at Cardiff City as Cauley Woodrow and Callum Brittain returned from injury and replaced Patrick Schmidt, who dropped to the bench, and Elliot Simoes, who was not in the squad.
The visitors made a very bright start with Callum Styles, after a fine run down the left, playing in Dominik Frieser at a tight angle on the left of the area five yards out but his powerful effort was kept out by Marshall. Woodrow then headed over after the resulting Matty James corner was nodded up in the air by a defender.
Derby almost took the lead in the sixth minute when goalkeeper Jack Walton rushed out of his box to meet a ball down the right but Martyn Waghorn got there first and nudged the ball across the box but Michal Helik cleared.
Brittain then put in a good cross from the right but a tightly marked Woodrow seemed to mistime his header and the ball came off his shoulder and went well wide.
Derby's first shots on target came in the 22nd minute from Tom Lawrence whose 20-yard effort was well-saved by Walton diving to his left, then goalkeeper denied the same player with his chest from a tight angle on the right of the box after the ball was recycled.
The goal arrived after half an hour when Marshall tried to roll the ball out to a defender but Chaplin intercepted and fired into the goal from the left of the box.
Alex Mowatt should have made it 2-0 on 43 minutes but he fired wide of the bottom right corner from the left of the box 15 yards out after clever backheels by both Chaplin and Woodrow. There was still time for Chaplin to curl a 25-yard free-kick just wide of the bottom left corner before the interval.
Derby changed from three at the back to a 4-3-3 at half-time. Chaplin had another free-kick just after the break but curled it over the bar from 22 yards. Waghorn, at the other end, sent a 25-yard free-kick just wide of the top right corner. Left-back Lee Buchanan then fired into the side netting from the left of the box before Lawrence shot wide from 30 yards.
Styles could have made it 2-0 but, after a good run and pass by Mowatt saw him receive the ball in space on the left of the box, he fired wide of the bottom right corner from 15 yards. Another good Mowatt pass then played Chaplin in on the left of the box with Woodrow free on his right but he ballooned a cross into the air for Marshall to catch.
Substitute Herbie Kane then shot from 12 yards out after a good move on the left but Marshall dived to his left to save easily. Jozwiak shot from 25 yards but it was straight at Walton who saved easily.
It was 2-0 with seven minutes when a good move from deep in the Barnsley half involving passes by Woodrow, Kane and Chaplin finished with Adeboyejo firing into the bottom right corner from outside the box.
Chaplin almost made it 3-0 in the 90th minute after scampering into the box on the right but his shot was saved by Marshall who dived to his right.
