BARNSLEY defender Mads Andersen could miss some more of pre-season with a knee injury, head coach Markus Schopp has revealed.

The Dane was one of several players who did not feature in Wednesday’s friendly at AFC Rochdale. But, whereas the others are expected to return to training in the coming days, Andersen’s injury is slightly more serious.

Schopp told the Chronicle: “Mads will take a bit longer. We are still waiting for the last scans from the doctor, but it will take a bit longer.

“For the rest of the guys, we are talking about days not weeks.

“The first two weeks were really intense so we need to find the right recovery time.”

The other players who did not feature included Herbie Kane, Aapo Halme, Dominik Frieser, Victor Adeboyejo and Michal Helik.

Kane is recovering full fitness after a knee injury while Halme and Frieser are expected to be in contention for tomorrow’s friendly with Sheffield Wednesday.

Helik could also face the Owls after returning to training this week on an individual programme having been given two weeks off following his involvement with Poland at Euro 2020.
