Markus Schopp admits Barnsley are 'frustrated' not to have won at home to Blackburn Rovers in a 0-0 draw which he admits 'was not a good game.'

The Reds had the better chances but could not score and are now winless in six matches.

Schopp told the Chronicle: "It was not a good game. It was a third game in the week and for us we had two away games. Even the the weather had an impact. But we cannot use these things as an excuse.

"We needed the first goal and we had the big chance with Clarke (Oduor) in the first half but it didn't happen.

"We had few more chances than them but they were really dangerous in transition and we gave them too many balls away too easily, even after set pieces. Fortunately we defended it well and they didn't play it well then Brad (Collins) made one really important save.

"We have to take this point but we wanted more. I am frustrated because we invested a lot this week and put in a lot of energy but there is a lot of space to do better."

The Reds had several players missing but Claudio Gomes started a senior league game for the first time in his career while Will Hondermarck came off the bench at half-time for his second appearance and Jasper Moon made his fourth senior start.

"The young lads did really well. Claudio started well then struggled a bit physically then Will came in and did well. We are getting more options for the future.

"Jasper was good defensively but he can give us more offensively."

Defender Aapo Halme added: "We are really tired, we gave everything on the pitch. I felt we could have won the game.

"We had chances but also they had chances. We could have taken three points.

"We wanted more points by this stage. In games like this you have to take the win."

Romal Palmer missed the match through injury but is expected to be back for the game in Blackpool next Saturday, along with Ben and Jordan Williams, who are returning from injury, Josh Benson who has had Covid-19 and Liam Kitching who has been suspended.

"Today in training was Jordan Williams and Ben Williams, Josh will be out of quarantine tomorrow, Obbi Oulareis making good steps. That is a lot of guys.

"It is a big change to play without Romal but we couldn't risk him today."
