Two Barnsley boxing prospects got victories as boxing returned to Barnsley for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic.JA Metcalfe, 20, and 21-year-old Billy Allen were victorious on the bill at the Metrodome last Friday night.Middleweight Metcalfe won 40-37 against Slovakian Pavol Garaj. Referee Michael Alexander scored the last round even with the away man landing his fair share back on the youngster.It’s now three wins from three for the Cudworth man, who is trained by Sheffield’s former European champion Ryan Rhodes.Welterweight Allen, who was under the guidance of promoter Josh Wale, got his first professional victory.After a draw on debut in September, Allen was much improved as he won every round against Stainforth’s Jake Bray.Boxing will return to the Metrodome on February 25 with Wale ending his career with one final fight.Interview with Wale in Friday’s paper.
