Barnsley’s scheduled game at home to Blackpool on Saturday has been postponed.

The Reds are thought to be without about at least 12 players due to Covid-19 and injuries – meaning they comfortably meet the EFL’s threshold for postponement of having fewer than 14 players who have played a league game.

They also cancelled their home game with Stoke City on Wednesday.

Barnsley had several players, and two coaches, isolating due to Covid-19 at the weekend when they beat Barrow 5-4 in the FA Cup – after which others are understood to have tested positive.

More have tested positive throughout the week, including two on Thursday which prompted the decision to call the game off.

Several of the coaching and support staff are also isolating.

Cauley Woodrow, Michal Helik, Aapo Halme, Obbi Oulare and Clark Oduor have been out with injuries.

The other players who missed Saturday’s FA Cup win over Barrow were Josh Benson, Claudio Gomes and Aaron Leya Iseka.
