CAULEY Woodrow had knee surgery on Wednesday and Barnsley will take his recovery ‘month by month’ says Poya Asbaghi.
The Reds’ captain and top-scorer limped off at Preston on December 11.
Poya Asbaghi said: “Cauley will not be back soon unfortunately.
“I can say we will take it month by month not week by week.”
Defender Michal Helik is much closer to a return. Asbaghi said: “We are not worried that Michal will be out for too long. We are more optimistic with his comeback.”
Asbaghi added: “We have lost leading characters and more experienced players in a young squad. That means others have to take responsibility and we are trying to create new leaders in the team.”
