A DODWORTH youngster has been named the best street dancer in the country for her age at a recent competition.
Five-year-old Darcey Warden has been dancing since the first lockdown and at the IDTA street dance competition in Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday, she was named the medalist of the year.
Her mum, 34-year-old Danielle, of Intake Crescent, said: “It was the finals of the competition and there was more than 30 others in her age category but she won the whole thing.
“She was named medalist of the year and came first in the country - I’m really proud of her.
“My other daughter came fifth in her age group, too.
“My eldest started dancing and Darcey wanted to join too so she started in lockdown.
“She spends four days a week training and does Latin, ballroom and rock n’ roll - but street is Darcey’s favourite.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
