SHOPPERS and staff in a supermarket were evacuated over bomb fears caused by a suspicious suitcase which turned out to be full of old clothes.
Residents were disappointed last Thursday evening when Asda on High Street in Grimethorpe was forced to close to customers due to precautionary measures.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We received a report at around 8pm on Thursday March 3 from staff at Asda on High Street, Grimethorpe, regarding a suspicious suitcase which had been left in the supermarket.
"Officers attended the scene to assess the item and it was concluded that it was full of old clothes.
“Asda staff had evacuated the store as a precaution and it reopened as soon as it was confirmed to be harmless."

It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
