RECORD numbers of people are flocking to Barnsley’s museums and outdoor attractions.

Councillors have been told that 370,000 people visited museums and other sites during the last quarter.

“That is a record and it is superb,” said regeneration and culture spokesperson Coun Tim Cheetham.

He added that many manufacturing jobs had been created during the same period.

Library visits are also edging back up to pre-Covid levels with more than 206,000 people using the service.

Coun Jenny Platts, communities spokesperson, thanked staff ‘for their hard work’.
