Barnsley are expected to confirm the signing of left wing-back Nicky Cadden this week as well as young striker Jack Butterfill.

Cadden, 25, is from Scotland but made his name last season with League Two champions Forest Green Rovers before rejecting a new contract. His signing could be confirmed as early as today.

He is highly likely to join the Reds, who have limited options at left wing-back with Callum Styles expected to leave.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Butterfill is set to join the Reds after leaving Leicester City. Michael Duff has confirmed he will start as an under 23s player.

Butterfill's signing and improved contracts for other under 23s are set to be announced in the near future.

Meanwhile, the Reds have USA international Sebastian Soto on trial. The striker, who will be 22 later this month, has a year to run on his contract with current club Norwich City.

Soto, who spent last season on loan to Scottish top flight club Livingston with no goals in 12 appearances, played in Saturday's friendly against Crewe and is due to train with the squad this week.
