POLICE presence will be upped in a fire-hit area of Barnsley to alleviate the public’s concerns.
Worsbrough will be targeted by police after it was revealed to be the town’s worst area for deliberate arson incidents - particularly impacting grassland - at a crime meeting on Wednesday.
The borough has been blighted by recent fires, leading officers to increase patrols and work alongside South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue bosses to issue a plea to those responsible.
Coun James Higginbottom said: “We discussed the recent spate of deliberate fires in our community and these areas will now receive additional patrols.”

Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
