A 16-YEAR-OLD boy who was horrifically injured in a scooter accident last month is recovering well.
Liam Dickinson was riding his Yamaha 50cc Aerox down Green Road when he was in collision with a Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the opposite direction on June 16.
Liam, who has just finished his GCSEs at Penistone Grammar School, broke seven bones when he was thrown from his scooter and his helmet came off.
He was taken to Barnsley hospital where he spent nine days in intensive care with injuries including a fractured skull and cheekbone, a broken femur and severe cuts.
He has also temporarily lost hearing in one ear and lost several fingernails.
But the teen is now back on his feet and should be able to leave hospital this week after spending more than a month laid up.
His dad Steve Dickinson, of Oxspring, said: "It has been a tough few weeks for Liam. He has had to have pins in his leg but he is up and walking about and making a fabulous recovery.
"His friends have been wonderful, visiting him every day and keeping up his morale which I think has really helped his recovery.
"It's been a nightmare for him all cooped up in hospital, he's bored senseless. Hopefully we will have him home soon and he can enjoy the rest of summer with his friends."
