A FUNDRAISING ex-serviceman who dyed his hair for charity has received his final total - raising more than £1,000 for charity.
Ian Self, 55, launched a public vote back in June to decide which two colours he would dye his hair before June 25, Armed Forces Day.
All the money raised will go to charity Help For Heroes.
Ian said: “I’ve received my certificate from Help For Heroes now. I collected money from boxes and wristbands in local pubs for another month or so. My total is £1,830.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to the pubs, businesses and people of Barnsley who have been tremendous with their help, and my partner Miriam.”
The money will go towards helping both serving and veteran servicemen and women get the support they need for recovery.
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
