MORE than £1,500 has been raised by a local reverend after he shaved his head for a youngster in one of his churches.

Rev Ben Scrivens shaved his head at Buckley Methodist Church in the town centre on August 20.

It’s all in honour of young Oliver Howe who has been diagnosed with brain cancer - and Ben wanted to do something to help.

He told the Chronicle: “Oliver is a little boy at one of our churches who has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

“We’ve decided as a church to use lego more to interact as he loves it.

“Even adults like playing with lego so we’re going to be using it more.

“We’ve managed to raise more than £1,500.

“I didn’t expect it - it’s brilliant.

“Half of the money will going towards lego and the other half will go to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.”
