WELL-KNOWN comedian Billy Pearce started his role as a bin man in Jack Land Noble’s new play yesterday.
Taking place at the Lamproom until October 1, Thrashed explores the depth and complexity of four lost souls who find themselves on life’s scrapheap.
Famous Barnsley face Jack said he was delighted to be working with his idol.
He added: “Like countless childhood dreamers, absorbed with the smell of the greasepaint and roar of the crowd, I first encountered Billy’s inimitable comic in pantomime.
“The seven-year-old me was spellbound and a lifelong admiration was born.
“Fast-forward 20 years and, not only am I working in this crazy old business as a professional actor, writer and director, I find myself working alongside and sharing a stage with my childhood comic idol.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
