BARNSLEY will assess the fitness of strikers Slobodan Tedic and James Norwood ahead of Saturday’s home game with MK Dons as both have a chance of being involved.

Tedic hurt his ankle at Shrewsbury last Saturday and the Reds are waiting on the results of a scan. Norwood has missed the last two games with an injured glute but has returned to training this week. Head coach Michael Duff said: “Nors has definitely got a chance.

“He trained fully on Tuesday which is earlier than I was expecting.

“For Boban, we’re waiting on the results of a scan.

“We will assess both on Friday.

“We will pick what we think is the right team. It might not be either, we have options.”

Barnsley have been low on strikers, with Devante Cole the only regular.

Fabio Jalo, who turns 17 on Friday has also featured in the first team this season but is yet to start a league match and has been back playing with the under 18s then under 23s recently.

Josh Martin and Jack Aitchison have been used up front this season at times despite being attacking midfielders.

Duff said: “A lot of our injuries have been at the top end of the pitch.

“We need to ride our luck a little bit.

“But we’re not the only team with injuries after a really heavy schedule in the first few months of the season.”
