HUNDREDS of children received a special visit from Santa last weekend thanks to help from a local councillor.

Coun Jake Lodge, who represents the Worsbrough ward, organised the event.

The visits have been supported by donations from local businesses and residents.

A spokesperson for White’s Bakery, a local business that supported the visits, said: “It is fantastic that we have initiatives in Worsbrough like this which the Coun Lodge is planning and it is something that as a local business we can be a part of and be proud to support the local community.”

Coun Lodge added: “I know how hard this Christmas will be for many, so I’m delighted that we’re able to offer a free visit to Santa and a small gift for hundreds of Worsbrough children.

“My thanks go to all sponsors and venues, and I hope that this initiative will be something that can be replicated each year.”
