A LAND ROVER Defender was stolen from a businessman’s unit over the weekend - and he’s now offering a £5,000 reward to anyone who comes forward with sightings or information.

At 11pm last Saturday night, six thieves broke into Luke Westmoreland’s scrapyard in Wath-upon-Dearne and stole his newly-rebuilt Land Rover Defender 90 as well as other essential equipment from the yard.

Luke told the Chronicle that he had seen one of the thieves with a three-foot-long sword, along with the others who were also carrying weapons.

“I saw them walking around the unit sussing everything out, and then they triggered the motion senses which set the alarm off,” he said.

The Defender - which has reportedly been seen locally over the last couple of days - had recently been rebuilt by Luke after he took it off-roading.

He added: “I’m not sure if it was targeted or completely unprovoked and out of the blue - but I just want it back, which is why I’m offering a high cash reward.

“You can’t have anything these days, I just can’t believe it to be honest.

“I spent a fortune on it.”
