A LOCAL MP has praised a primary school in his constituency following a ‘good’ Ofsted report.

Highgate Primary Academy maintained its rating, prompting Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey to visit the school to congratulate its leaders.

He said: “It was a real pleasure to visit Highgate Primary and speak with pupils and teachers about such a positive Ofsted report.

“Everyone at the school should be really proud of the work they’ve done and it was clear to see from visiting classes and speaking with student council members just how much students and staff cared about their school and the community.”

Devinder Riat, principal at Highgate Primary Academy, part of Astrea Academy Trust, added: “We are thrilled that John could join us in celebrating Highgate’s sustained successes as recognised by Ofsted and meet our brilliant team and pupils who have worked so hard to drive further improvements at our school.

“The visit was a huge success and gave Mr Healey the chance to see our vision and values in action.”
