FEWER girls were born than boys at Barnsley Hospital last year, as December became the busiest month for midwives.
A total of 2,973 babies were born at the site in 2022 - 1,574 boys and 1,399 girls.
December was the busiest month as 273 newborns were delivered, whilst April was the quietest with 217.
The heaviest baby weighed in at 11 pounds and eight ounces, and the smallest at one pound and six ounces.
Four tots were born on Christmas Eve, five on Christmas Day and five on Boxing Day.
