TWO Barnsley men who did a 24-hour live podcast in a bid to raise funds for a local charity have managed to surpass their target goal, raising more than £2,000.
Dan Nestor and Andy Kitchen took part in a podcast in January, raising money for Barnsley Hospital Charity with the money specifically going towards the neonatal baby unit.
On Wednesday, Dan climbed the highest mountain in Africa - Mount Kilimanjaro - fundraising for the same cause.
Dan told the Chronicle: “I was really fortunate to have been given the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
“It’s been a once in a lifetime adventure which I’m very fortunate and grateful for.”
Dan and Andy set a target of £1,000 and have exceeded that goal, raising a total of £2,254.
Dan will be handing a cheque to the Barnsley Hospital Charity next week when he returns from his adventure.
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
