WOMBWELL Main kept the Premier Division title race alive with a 1-0 home win over leaders Dodworth MW.

Ryan Wingrove got the only goal for Main who are second, six points behind Dodworth with a game in hand.

North Gawber lost 3-1 at Hepworth United on Saturday then drew 1-1 at home to Wombwell Town on Wednesday.

Carey Welford put Gawber in front on 70 minutes before Town’s Alf Thompson levelled in the ninth minute of injury-time.

Gawber are eighth, 13 points off top with two games in hand on the leaders.

Town had won 2-1 at home to South Kirkby Colliery on Saturday.

Brodie Cooper and Louis Wardle scored.

Town are fifth but could be overtaken by teams below them who have games in hand.

Houghton Main won 3-2 at Sheffield Town on Saturday to move up to fourth-bottom.

Penistone Church reserves won 4-0 at home to Ecclesfield Red Rose on Saturday.

Ryan Hallsworth hit a hat-trick with Alfie Broughton also netting.

Silkstone United lost 5-4 at home to Caribbean Sports on Wednesday in Division One.

Athersley Rec reserves won 5-1 over Wombwell Main reserves.

The Rec scorers were Jordan Guy, twice, Connor Johnson, Ashley Mills and Joshua Collinson.

Rec reserves drew 1-1 at home to Thorncliffe Villa in midweek.
