A WOMBWELL teenager could be flying off to Florida next year should she be victorious in a beauty pageant later this month.

Naomi Henry, 17, of Wilson Street, is hoping to put Barnsley on the map when she competes in Kent at the end of May, representing South Yorkshire.

If she manages to win the event, she’ll be heading out to the US next year to represent the country in the teen category.

She told the Chronicle: “I’m going to be taking part in a beauty pageant in Kent at the end of the month, representing South Yorkshire in the teenager category.

“I really suffered with my image when we came out of lockdown and my first pageant in Blackpool really helped me improve my confidence.

“I’m really looking forward to this event and it’s really exciting there’s a chance I’ll be able to go to Florida to complete.

“I’ve also been doing charity work throughout the year, like at Easter I donated lots of gifts to the Barnsley children’s ward.

“I’ve also donated to local charity shops and food donation bins and done my bit for the environment and litter picked in the local area.”
