OBBI Oulare is no longer on Barnsley’s books after joining Belgian second division club Lierse on a two-year deal.

The Chronicle understands that the Reds cancelled the contract of the Belgian striker who signed in 2021 and made two substitute appearances before being loaned out to Molenbeek for the last season and a half.

There were questions over the physical fitness of the 27-year-old who barely featured for his loan club. He was originally contracted until 2024.

Another Belgian forward, Aaron Leya Iseka, is currently due to return to pre-season training this summer.

The 24-year-old – who has two years left on his Barnsley contract – played in an EFL Cup game for the Reds early in the season that finished this week.

But Michael Duff did not see him as part of his first team plans and he was loaned to Turkish second tier clubs Adanaspor – whose season was ended by an earthquake in Turkey and Syria – then Tuzlaspor, for whom he scored four goals including three in his last three matches.

Callum Styles is also currently due back at Oakwell for pre-season training.

The Hungary international signed a new contract until 2025 with the Reds last summer, after playing the first eight games of the season under Duff, then was loaned out to Millwall who missed out on the Championship play-offs on the final day.

There is a buy clause in his contract for any club to take him.

He is in the Hungary squad due to play in Montenegro on June 17 and at home to Lithuania on June 20.
