BARNSLEY residents paid tribute to local military personnel in an Armed Forces Day civic service on Saturday.

Taking place in the Barnsley Pals Centenary Gardens, residents paid their respects and the renowned Barnsley Metropolitan Band also performed.

Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Mick Stowe, expressed his deep admiration for the men and women who have served for their country.

He said: “We are immensely proud of our armed forces community in Barnsley.

“This civic service is an opportunity for us to come together, remember their sacrifices, and show our heartfelt gratitude.”
