HOUSE prices in Barnsley dropped more than the Yorkshire average in May, the latest available figures show.
The prices dropped by a total of 1.5 per cent in May - though it does not reverse the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area grow by 1.6 per cent over the last year.
The average Barnsley house price in May was £158,160, Land Registry figures show.
Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Barnsley rose by £2,400 - putting the area 11th among Yorkshire and the Humber’s 15 local authorities with price data for annual growth.
