BOXING is in the blood of the Wale family and young Mikey is keeping the family tradition going.

Mikey, nine, is the son of former British bantamweight champion, Josh Wale and the grandson of trainer and Proud of Barnsley winner Mick Wale.

His uncles Gwyn and Dempsey have also boxed professionally.

With such genes it was inevitable he would end up in the ring himself and his debut has now been set for September 12 at the Metrodome.

The Brampton lad has been regularly training at the family gym alongside his younger brothers Jack and Jacob.

Mick said: “He is my first grandson to box and he wants to do it. There was no pushing him into it.

“I am surprised by how confident he is. There are no nerves. It’s probably because he has been brought up around boxing.

“Josh is going to be in the corner with him, like I was with Josh, it’s history repeating itself.”
