A YOUNG man who was found by police with ‘suspected stab wounds to the chest’ has died in hospital.
Police were called at around 9pm last night to reports that a man had serious injuries on Newton Street, in the town centre.
Upon arrival, officers located a 22-year-old man with suspected stab wounds to his chest.
He was taken to hospital, where despite best efforts of medical professionals he was pronounced dead.
Police have confirmed an investigation is now underway.
A spokesperson told the Chronicle: “His family has been informed and is being supported by officers.
“Enquiries on going to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
