BARNSLEY Women’s FC began their season, and life at their new temporary home in Sheffield, with a 4-0 victory over Chorley.

The Reds are playing at the Olympic Legacy Park on the site of the old Don Valley Stadium, having left Wombwell Town last season.

They are looking for a permanent home in Barnsley where they still train and where their reserves and junior sides are based.

They play in the National League Division One North, one tier above Barnsley FC Women.

Against Chorley, Amy Beck and Jodie Snelson netted early on then Courteney Csomor’s 30-yard strike made it 3-0 at the break.

Louise Biggins added another for Barnsley who now host Peterborough United on Sunday in a cup game.
