A FAMOUS face of Barnsley is aiming for a Christmas number one with his latest charity single.

YouTube sensation Danny Malin, of Rate My Takeaway, has teamed up with Sheffield music producer Toddla T for the third year in a row to create a new charity song, Santa’s From Up North.

Raising money for Leeds Children’s Hospital, the song is full of comedic lines about life in Yorkshire.

Danny said: “I think all families need some Christmas cheer in these winter months, so what better way than to release a classic belter which raises money for children’s charities.

“And of course as proud Yorkshiremen, Toddla T from the Steel City and I, there’s nothing we like more than a good Yorkshire pudding.

“Folk are quite competitive about them - I know I’m in the doghouse with the wife if I eat shop bought Yorkshire puddings or enjoy someone else’s for example.

“She’s super supportive of the new single, although she has to overcome the fact that we used The Real Yorkshire Pudding Company to supply hundreds of Yorkshires for the new music video.”

The song was officially released last Friday, with Danny and his crew filming the music video for the song in the week leading up to December with Leeds-based Motiv Productions.

Danny gave a special debut of the song to Reds fans last Tuesday, during the Wycombe match at Oakwell.

“That was really good, we got such a good reception from the crowd,” he added.

“We were doing some filming there as well and managed to get everyone waving so all that’s gone in the music video.

“We’ve even got an appearance from Toby Tyke in there.”
