DAZ Cadwallander is gearing up to headline iconic music venue The Leadmill next month - and is hoping 2024 will be the year he becomes the Heavyweight Champion of the World in the music business just months after supporting Reverend and the Makers.
The 30-year-old from Bolton-upon-Dearne has already had quite the career, but admits that next month will be the biggest moment so far.
Daz, who is accompanied on stage by his band full of electric guitars, will take to The Leadmill stage on February 3.
He told the Chronicle: “I’ve never been as excited for a show as much as I have The Leadmill.
“When we played the O2 Academy Sheffield’s second stage that was one of the best nights of my life but The Leadmill has always been the one of which I’ve wanted to play and headline in Sheffield.
“Playing on that main stage of which the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Oasis and The Killers amongst so many other big artists have just blows my mind.
“It is a dream come true.
“I’ve seen some amazing shows at The Leadmill and it is where many a generation have fallen in love with live music.
“Hopefully a few more will fall in love with The Leadmill again come February 3.”
Daz believes that 2023 was his breakthrough year - and he admits that he couldn’t have done it without the help of his band.
“Last year was amazing,” he added.
“I released three tracks and surpassed more than 140,000 Spotify streams.
“Amongst that I supported Reverend and The Makers and The Sherlocks on their pre-album release shows - and headlined shows at the likes of Sidney and Matilda with my band, we also supported other bands at the O2 Academy in Sheffield.
“I would say it was a breakthrough year in regards to generating a loyal fan base and setting us up to go on and do great things in 2024.
“The Leadmill show is the starting point for the biggest year of my musical journey.
“Not to mention the same for my amazing band, of which I wouldn’t be able to give these songs the sound they deserve without them.”
This week Daz has been down in London recording his latest song at the Arlo Parks Studio - but this year will see him playing a number of gigs a little closer to home.
“My plans are to release a new track in the coming months then work towards a summer EP which will be my debut EP.
“We have festivals in the diary from February onwards and there are plans in the works for a mini tour at the back end of the year to finish the year on a huge high.
“Then in 2025 we will be looking at another huge headline show.
“In terms of local headline shows for 2024 I am headlining The Garrison in Barnsley on May 11 and will also be playing Barnsley Live.”

On the same bill, Barnsley band Civic Green will also be performing.
They were formed in late 2015 by lead singer Danny Hall and bassist Andy Lowman, both from Barnsley.
The band were named after the green outside of the Civic Hall in the town centre by the original drummer Adam Wright, who used to use the area as a ‘misbehaving’ teen.
Last year, they performed in front of 11,000 fans at Oakwell before Barnsley’s match against Portsmouth and, even though they were left with minutes to set up, they managed to put on quite the show - even earning the respect of then head coach Michael Duff.
