Barnsley have made United States international Donovan Pines their first signing of the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old centre-back, who stands at six foot five, has signed a contract until the end of next season with the club having an option to add an extra year.

Pines was a free agent after leaving MLS club DC United, having last played on October 1 - more than 100 days ago.

He must wait for international clearance.

Pines had spent his whole career at DC United, playing 87 league games, while he played twice for his country at the 2021 Gold Cup which they won.
