Barnsley are expected to be busy during transfer deadline day today with several players potentially both in and out.

The Reds are set to announce in a left-back imminently while central midfield and striker are the other positions they are looking at.

Callum Styles could still move to Sunderland, most likely on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Centre-back Kacper Łopatą is also expected to be loaned out.

Head coach Neill Collins did not want to comment on Blackburn striker Niall Ennis and played down links to Sheffield Wednesday midfielder George Byers.

Collins said: “We’re hoping for a couple more signings.

“On the last day, it can be crazy and clubs are in a bit of a frenzy. It can be very tough.

“We’re looking to make ourselves stronger. It won’t be players for players’ sake

“We want to add to the group but it is important to remember the group has done very well.”

Styles was set to join Sunderland last week but has been battling illness. Collins said: “It’s a short-term thing but still enough to be a hiccup.

“It’s progressing. Until anything is signed you never know. The chances are that Callum will be playing for someone else after today.”

Other than Styles, Barnsley are determined to keep all of their first team players.

Collins said: “I am not aware of any bids. It will seem like a longer 24 hours than any other day and anything can happen, but I think we can rely on the fact that we will keep all the people that we want to keep.”
