MAYA Schofield, from Royston, took gold at the Northern Indoor Championships in Sheffield.

She won the under 15 girls’ 800m.

Maya recorded the fastest time for her age group in the UK this year with two minutes and 12 seconds.

Barnsley runners enjoyed success at the Dewsbury 10k.

Barnsley AC’s Eleanor Baker finished as second woman in a personal best of 34-38, putting her 26 seconds behind the fastest female. Baker, making her debut on the course, knocked a minute off her PB from the Sheffield 10k.

Eleanor, along with Naomi Drakeford and Lydia Race, took the first women’s team prize. Naomi took two minutes off her PB with a time of 36-08 while Lydia was first over35 women in 38-10.

First back out of 30 Barnsley AC members in ninth place was Gareth Cooke in 32-12. Over65 women Jenny Wakeman won her age category with 49-37.

There were also overall 10k PBs for Joe Restell (35-36), Jack Bellamy (35-47), Adam Lavelle (36-29), Alan Nutton (36-37), Gail Colville (40-55), Gemma Thickett (43-39) and Laura Mills (59-17).

Seventeen runners competed from Penistone Footpath Runners.

First runner back for the club was George Parr in a time of 36-25 which gave him an overall position of 162nd.

Close behind George was over50 runner Martin Ball (36-25) who claimed a top ten place in his age category which consisted of 202 runners.

Bill Phillips (48-40) and Keith Gordon (51-54) grabbed the top two positions in the men’s over75 age category.

There were also good performances from Andrew Pearson (37-27) and Matt Robinson (38-19) who claimed fourth and fifth in the men’s over55 age category.

Barnsley Harriers Dean Goodwin, Phil Tyas, Stephen Burnley, William Foreman and Anita Dobson recorded PBs.

At the Grizedale Forest Trail Half Marathon, Harrier Lisa Clarkson was seventh woman and second in her age category. She finished 52nd overall in 1-57.30.

Penistone’s Suzanne McGill (22-32) placed first at the Penistone ParkRun.

There were second ParkRun places for Julia Johnson (22-53) at Oldham, James Mumford (18-13) at Lister Park and Hannah Shaw (23-23) at Penistone.

Robin Clough completed his 50th ParkRun at Poolsbrook.
