Neill Collins praised the Barnsley fans for their support during Saturday’s crucial win and his team for their consistent form which has seen them lose just two of 23 league games.

The Reds beat promotion rivals Derby County in front of more than 18,000 fans, cutting the gap between them and the second-placed Rams to three points.

Head coach Collins said: “The team have been really positive all season and got the fans behind them. Character and resilience – that is what Barnsley fans want.

“They are making Oakwell a special place. I hope we can have more games like that.”

Barnsley’s only losses in the league since September were at Derby in November and at home to Exeter last month.

Collins: “We’re a consistent group. Sometimes you still have little ups and downs where performances aren’t always great.

“The players have done a good job of working consistently and we’ll need that until the end of the season.”
