BARNSLEY Ladies lost 28-19 at home to leaders Cheltenham Tigers in their penultimate Championship North game.

They are sixth in the nine-team league with 31 points from 15 games.

They are now due to complete their season at home to third-placed West Park Leeds on March 16.

Meanwhile, Barnsley’s men face another relegation showdown in Yorkshire Division Three when they visit bottom club West Park Leeds on Saturday.

The Shaw Laners did not play this week but, after several of their fellow strugglers did, they fell from seventh to eighth – four points and two places clear of the bottom two.

West Park Leeds lost at previous bottom club Sheffield Medicals while Skipton won at Castleford to go above the Shaw Laners.

Barnsley – who have four games left – lost their first seven of the season but have since won six, drawn two and lost three.

Wath are also due to return after a two-week break when they visit Baildon in Yorkshire League Two.

Wath are second, on the same points as the leaders and ten clear in the top two.

They currently need 11 points from the last four games to be promoted.

Saturday’s hosts Baildon are fifth.
